On April 23, 2025, Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute President Martin A. Schmidt came together at the State of the County address to share an exciting announcement: a new partnership between the county and RPI. This collaboration aims to power Westchester’s future—fueling economic growth through accessible, on-demand STEM education and building a thriving ecosystem for workforce innovation and emerging technologies.
RPI and Westchester County are bringing the excellence of RPI programs to residents - so they can fulfill their career goals through programs that are easily accessible, flexible, and relevant. The programs are informed by Westchester County employers and designed to meet their organizational learning objectives. Our focus is to provide multidisciplinary engineering, science, business, continuing education, and professional development programs to meet the needs of residents and employers alike.

RPI at Work ProCourses are flexible, on-demand professional certification programs designed to integrate directly with active roles and real workplace priorities. Each ProCourse is intentionally structured around applied, scenario-based learning, enabling professionals to develop new capabilities and immediately apply them to real systems, teams, and business challenges. Guided by industry experts, participants engage in work-integrated learning with structured outcomes, producing measurable impact—not just completed content. Upon completion, participants earn an RPI Certificate of Completion, Continuing Education Units (CEUs) - that typically qualify for employer tuition benefits, and a verified digital badge.
